A Cast & Hide Away Luxury Experience at Niyama Private Islands, Maldives

Hi_PNIY_72303959_PNIY_Aerial_Two_Islands_02_G_A_LThe Niyama, a beautiful, private island and beach resort offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience, was the highlight of my holiday in The Maldives. Though I only stayed there for two nights, I had a wonderful time.

Rated #4 in the ‘Best Resorts in the World’ category of the Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards, and #2 ‘Top Resorts in the Indian Ocean’, Nature’s Playground beckons.

IMG_6349My adventure started with a seaplane ride from Velana airport. The flight made for spectacular views of the beautiful islands and a very smooth and exciting landing on crystal clear blue ocean water.

Niyama Private Islands Maldives sits an exhilarating 40-minute seaplane journey south of Malé. Our airport representative greets you on your arrival at Malé International Airport, where they will assist you with check-in for your seaplane transfer.

We were greeted by Niyama’s management on the landing deck and they made us feel special. We then were introduced to Vlad, our personal thakuru (butler) who took us to our beautiful beach-pool pavilion.

Each villa has a secluded deck that offers pure privacy to luxuriate in al fresco rain showers, moonlit dips, or an intimate afternoon basking in the sun.

Hi_PNIY_68750568_PNIY_1BR_Beach_Pavilion_Bedroom_01_G_A_LOur room was splendid, with a spacious living room and kitchen, an inside and outdoor bathroom and a private pool right in front of the beach. There were also welcome gestures and greetings everywhere, fruit and champagne on the table, a welcome greeting on the TV and a write-up in bathroom mirror using red lipstick. I loved it!

Each One Bedroom Beach Pavilion (size:400sqm) with Pool include: King bedroom, living and dining areas, open-air bathroom with both indoor and outdoor rain showers, private pool, direct beach access, private deck with swing, loungers and dining table, in-room entertainment system, pantry and wine refrigerator and Thakuru – Maldivian butler service.

Niyama2Unfortunately, the weather was unfriendly. Rainy and windy, it made us miss some beach activities. However, we were quite happy to just rest in the room and go cycling around the island.

Discover your island niche and settle in, or jump back and forth between high-energy indulgences and cool serenity.

At Play Island: Frolic in the treetops. Rush into the infinite horizon. Kick things up a notch in villas set on white sands and tailored to adventurous honeymooners, active couples and style-savvy families.

At Chill Island: Revel in a peaceful moment within the cocoon of Drift Spa. Explore culinary heaven offshore. Soothe your soul to the slow rhythms in over water studios. Lounge against the flowing oceanscape in an underwater playground.

Hi_PNIY_67774475_PNIY_Sandbank_Setting_01_G_A_HI also really enjoyed the top-notch fine dining at the Edge restaurants. It was fantastic. We also had a glow party at the underwater bar and restaurant, The Subsix. It was great fun.

Subsix: Underwater playground for Champagne breakfasts, subaquatic lunches, weekly glow parties, wine tastings and destination dining.

Hi_PNIY_61508802_Edge_Bar___Edge_RestaurantThis Niyama has diamond class service. Starting from the cheerful restaurant staffs like Joe and Koiyya to the friendly security personnel. Chef Amin at Nest restaurant cooked us teppanyaki which included fiery juggling performance. It was nice of him.

Fine Dining, EDGE: Modern fine dining, set half a kilometre out in the ocean and accessible only by boat.

Asian Dining, NEST: Asian avant-garde cuisines in a surreal tree top setting. Teppanyaki, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian

VFMLID=67774467One night, we missed the transport buggy and we searched for the driver in the lobby. There was no buggy schedule and we did not bring a mobile phone to contact Vlad. Fortunately, there was Sitaram, a security guard, who was willing to take us to our room. He worked extra miles. Salut.

With twin islands Play and Chill, Niyama Private Islands Maldives offers up the luxury of choice.

NiyamaThe weather got worse on our last day on the island and the seaplane departure got delayed. It caused us missed our flight back home from the airport. However, Niyama put us up at one of Anantara, their sister resorts, Naladhu Private Island which was fortunate as we could stay an extra day in Maldives.

Naladhu Private Island Maldives3Despite the weather, we had a great experience at Niyama and would love to castaway and hide again there. When the sun is shining!
